CivilOntologySemantic Infrastructure

Semantic Standards Explorer

Patterns for durable institutional meaning.

This registry translates standards-aware ideas into public-safe governance semantics. It references broad patterns such as identifiers, provenance, constraints, controlled vocabularies, and graph relationships without claiming certification or official adoption.

01

Upper Ontology Pattern

Stable categories for entities, processes, qualities, roles, and relations.

Aligns institutional terms before systems exchange data.

Public use: Use as an orientation pattern for classifying mandates, services, assets, records, roles, and events.

Boundary: Does not claim endorsement by any standards body or replace formal domain ontologies.

02

Knowledge Graph Provenance

Source, version, authoring context, and evidence lineage.

Keeps machine-readable governance traceable and auditable.

Public use: Attach source context to conceptual rules, public records, policy references, and infrastructure dependencies.

Boundary: Does not turn a semantic model into compliance evidence or legal authority.

03

Controlled Vocabulary Governance

Term stewardship, deprecation, aliases, and definitions.

Reduces semantic drift across departments and vendors.

Public use: Track term ownership, preferred labels, aliases, deprecated terms, and plain-language definitions.

Boundary: Does not assert that institutions have adopted CivilOntology terminology.

04

Constraint and Rule Modeling

Requirements, exceptions, eligibility, thresholds, and scope.

Turns policy dependencies into inspectable structured objects.

Public use: Represent conceptual requirements with source links, scope, exceptions, version context, and review boundaries.

Boundary: Does not make automated decisions or replace human review of policy text.

05

Urban Asset Semantics

Assets, locations, operators, lifecycle states, and service effects.

Connects city operations to public obligations and planning.

Public use: Describe relationships between public assets, service commitments, operating entities, places, and risk context.

Boundary: Does not expose live infrastructure data, operational status, or private asset inventories.
